10 Things We Learned At Ibrox As Rangers Slumped Again

It’s been a while since Ibrox Noise did a ‘things we learned’ article, but following Sunday’s Old Firm draw, here’s things we learned from Rangers’ point in Govan. And some observations too.
1: As alluded to earlier, Bojan Miovski might just be a real possibility a striker. Holds up play, has pace, power, and he will score goals. Evidence v Celtic is the shirt isn’t too heavy for him. He was criminally starved of service though, and he can’t do it all. Promising start.
2: Rangers didn’t miss Nico Raskin at all. For all the hype about the Belgian and his absence, his presence wouldn’t have changed much. Rangers’ midfield wasn’t too bad in that first half, and Thelo Aasgard did as good a job if not better than Nico at shutting out Gollum.
3: Mikey Moore isn’t showing very much at all in the shirt – he’s running but not going anywhere, and he offers very little end product. For a signing that excited Ibrox Noise significantly, he’s looking a long way off the £20M winger he’s rated as being. Looks like little more than a 17-year-old Rangers youth at this point. We hope for major improvement here.
4: Celtic are dismal. And it is criminal that Rangers didn’t exploit how poor the visitors are. Their manager is fuming at how crap their attack is, and how few signings he’s been given. And yet Rangers didn’t even come close to a decent shot on target never mind putting them to the sword. Poor.
5: Russell Martin did a Philippe Clement and praised a draw at Ibrox. Just like Baldy in 2023, the Curtains boy said he was happy with the point. Clement was given kudos by many fans for his ‘moral victory’ nonsense way back when, Ibrox Noise was disgusted with that attitude. Martin is even worse.
6: The fans did not exactly deliver on the anti-Martin rhetoric at all. There wasn’t even a powerful display, just a tifo about Rangers. It was very much in keeping with the wet home performance that all the social media aggression against Martin failed to materialise. All a bit of a damp squib.
7: Joe Rothwell has gone from ‘he wiz great at Leeds’ (which Ibrox Noise took exception to) and ‘he’s an outstanding signing (which we also disputed) to ‘p*sh’ and various other anti-Rothwell commentary. We couldn’t fathom why Rangers were signing him, objected furiously, got ignored, and now Rothwell is derided by most supporters. His arrival on the pitch as a pointless sub summed things up.
8: No Kieran Dowell!
9: Martin actually changed formation at Ibrox, and the early signs looked better, but it reverted to type and by 60 minutes it was all flat and sideways again.
10: The first 30 minutes showed no matter who Rangers’ manager is players will always be up for this fixture – it’s a carrot of why they joined in the first place. It’s a huge match, a world-famous match, and players don’t need Walter in the dressing room and dugout to be up for it.
And that’ll do…
