Former Gunner Mika Biereth scored three times in Monaco’s 3-0 win over Stade Reims on Friday, in what is becoming a habit for the striker with his new club.

Biereth scored three hat-tricks for Monaco in February, becoming the first player in 70 years to score three hat-tricks in their first 10 Ligue 1 matches (he’s played seven).

“I don’t think anyone expected me to start as well as I have started. But, credit to the team, the coaching staff and everyone around me for making me feel so comfortable coming in,” Biereth said afterwards (via GFFN).

Biereth has 10 goals since joining Monaco in January, and somewhat bizarrely, all 10 of them have come at home. He’s played five matches at home and five matches away so far, but the goals have all been at the Stade Louis II.

This goalscoring quirk means no one has scored more home goals than Biereth in Ligue 1 this season, despite the player only having played four league games at Monaco’s ground.

The 22-year-old does have a couple of assists in his away appearances though, so it’s been an excellent start overall.

Arsenal earned £4m from Biereth’s sale to Sturm Graz last summer, then another £2m from a sell-on clause when he was sold to Monaco for £11m in January.

Though £6m is more than the club have brought in for many of their other academy players in recent years, Mikel Arteta may regret not having the clinical striker in his squad right now.
