Arsenal are widely expected to sign one more player before the transfer window closes, with many believing Eberechi Eze will be their final addition of the summer. However, the Gunners face the prospect of missing out on their key target as rivals reignite their interest.
The Gunners have already spent just under £200 million on six new recruits. As a result, Andrea Berta has been tasked with trimming the squad, with players such as Oleksandr Zinchenko, Albert Sambi Lokonga and Reiss Nelson among those who could be moved on. Arsenal are expected to sanction their departures before bringing in another signing, but they may have to act quickly if they want to secure Eze’s signature.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Tottenham Hotspur are back in talks for Eze, which should serve as a wake-up call for the Gunners. Spurs are also pushing for Manchester City’s Savinho but have reignited their pursuit of the Crystal Palace forward following a serious injury to James Maddison and the departure of Heung-Min Son. Romano reports that Eze is “keen” on the move, but any deal hinges on Crystal Palace as his release clause has already expired.
With both clubs now expected to go head-to-head for his signature, neither will want to face the risk of rejection in favour of their rival, setting up a possible game of cat and mouse between two fierce competitors.

Eze featured in Crystal Palace’s Community Shield win on Sunday, and chairman Steve Parish was quizzed on the futures of both Eze and Marc Guehi. Speaking via Goal, he said:
“Yeah of course, but listen, players come and go in football clubs. I mean it’s a life cycle isn’t it? Hopefully they’ll still be here, that’s what I’d like. But we’ll see.”
His comments suggest the player could still move this summer, but Arsenal must act fast or face the prospect of missing out on a key target to their arch north London rivals..
Thoughts Gooners?
