Bayer Leverkusen have won the Bundesliga title for the first time in their history with a 5-0 win over Werder Bremen on Sunday.

Victor Boniface, Granit Xhaka, and a Florian Wirtz hat-trick saw Xabi Alonso’s men secure the championship without defeat – they are also yet to lose in any other competition this season too.

It is the first time in the club’s 119-year history that they have won the Bundesliga title.

In addition, they have also set a new unbeaten record to start a Bundesliga season at 29 games without being beaten.

Leverkusen dropped points on just four occasions over the course of the campaign to date and this is also the second earliest that the Meisterschale has been won.
