Bayern Munich have announced that club legend Gerd Müller sadly died on Sunday morning at the age of 75.

A German footballing icon, nicknamed The Bomber of the Nation, he scored a staggering 566 goals in 607 games for the German champions.

An unprecedented 365 of those came in the Bundesliga, which he finished top scorer of on seven occasions.

In addition, Müller scored 68 times in 62 caps for his country, including the winner in the 1974 World Cup final.

After retirement, Müller returned to Bayern as a youth coach for many years.
