Jimmy Dunne has committed his future to QPR for next season

Christian Nourry has praised Jimmy Dunne following his decision to agree a contract extension with QPR.

It was confirmed earlier this week that the defender has put pen to paper to remain at Loftus Road beyond last season.

The defender’s future with the London outfit was uncertain, with his previous deal set to expire at the end of June.

The Irishman had interest from Sheffield United during the January transfer window, but has committed his future to QPR for next season.

Nourry has outlined Dunne’s commitment to QPR, praising the effort he puts in for the team, following his agreement to renew his contract.

The club’s CEO has also highlighted the defender’s loyalty, claiming he turned down a number of teams in order to remain at Loftus Road.

“Jimmy Dunne will put every ounce of his blood, sweat and tears on the line for this football club,” said Nourry, via the club’s official website.

“He had the pick of the Championship clubs in this window but ultimately he has chosen to stay here, home, because of what we are all building together.

“The journey continues.”

It has been unconfirmed the length of Dunne’s new contract, but he will be with the team through the 2025/26 campaign.

This will come as a positive development for supporters, with the defender cementing himself as a fan favourite with his performances for the side.

These comments from Nourry will only further cement his position with the supporters, with his commitment to the club reaffirmed by the chief executive.

He has remained a consistent presence in the starting lineup in the years since, making a total of 152 league appearances across four seasons, including playing in 45 of their 46 fixtures in 2024/25.

The centre-back also had his most prolific campaign over the last 12 months, contributing five goals and two assists.

He has a total of 11 goals in the Championship, helping the team finish 20th, 18th and 15th in the table.

Supporters will be pleased to see him commit his future to the club, especially as he could have departed Loftus Road for nothing this summer. Losing Dunne on a free would’ve been a particularly bad move for the club, as he is someone that could potentially command a significant fee in the transfer market.
