Leicester City head coach Ruud van Nistelrooy wants the reassurance that he will be backed as the team boss. What's going on at the King Power?

Why Leicester City chairman is making Ruud van Nistelrooy sweat

In spite of total failure in his role as Leicester City manager, Ruud van Nistelrooy still thinks he can call the shots at King Power Stadium. The Dutchman is unsure whether he wants to continue on with the Foxes in the Championship next season. Well, to be more precise, the ex-Manchester United man wishes for certain assurances and commitments to be made by LCFC chairman Aiyawatt 'Khun Top' Srivaddhanaprabha and from director of football Jon Rudkin.

Although, Srivaddhanaprabha and Rudkin have made such a shambles of Leicester affairs that they can't in fact assure the former Premier League striker of much at all. The worrying Profit and Sustainability situation City find themselves in from their own misfiring, misdirection and misfortune road blocks appropriate squad investment. Those significant troubles could also spell further punishment in the form of point deductions in the 2025/26 campaign.

But the main point of concern and contention is the fact that Srivaddhanaprabha hasn't bothered to undertake the requested discussions with RvN. You could even conclude, from the outside looking in, that van Nistelrooy is being ignored or dismissed. This leaves many of us to believe that the currently incapable Leicester powers that be aren't keen on him as the LCFC boss.

Essentially, the Foxes owner is either intentionally or inadvertently allowing van Nistelrooy to wait and stew in agitation. And now the 48-year-old has actually admitted as much to the media. This is not the first time he's publicly mentioned awaiting talks:

"I know what I want my future to look like. I’m very clear. I have learnt a lot in the past four months, in terms of every aspect of the club and team. I know what’s necessary. Then, of course, it’s a matter of being aligned with the club. I’m waiting for that conversation to take place. However, it appears that it is by no means guaranteed that van Nistelrooy will stay on. Pressed on the issue, he said: “It’s important to maintain the person you are. That’s important. I have standards that I think a football club should live by - and I’m sticking to that, no matter what happens.""Mirror
