Juventus are set to receive compensation from FIFA after the cruciate ligament (ACL) injury suffered by full-back Juan Cabal while away on international duty with Colombia, reports confirm.

Why Juventus will receive compensation from FIFA after Cabal injury

According to reports from Tuttosport, Juve will receive compensation to the tune of €1.7m after Cabal suffered a serious injury to his knee while training with Colombia. The summer signing’s season is expected to be over as a result.

As Cabal’s injury occurred while he was away on international duty, Juventus are covered by FIFA’s Club Protection Programme, an insurance policy that ensures clubs are compensated in the event of injury to one of their players through no fault of their own.

Cabal reportedly earns around €2.5m per season in wages on his current deal at the Alianz Stadium. The €1.7m figure quoted by Tuttosport accounts for the wages Juventus will pay while the player sits in the treatment room.

Though a return date for Cabal has not yet been confirmed, it is likely that he will return to training for pre-season in the summer of 2025 if he does not return by the end of the 2024-25 season.
