West Ham United are progressing in talks to sign FC Metz forward Idrissa Gueye (18), according to a report from Foot Mercato.

Gueye enjoyed a breakthrough season with Metz in Ligue 2 last season. The centre-forward netted five goals and registered one assist in 20 appearances in the league, but caught the eye with his raw talent. As a result, clubs across Europe are lining up to sign the Senegalese player.

Foot Mercato understands that Manchester United and Borussia Dortmund are in the race to sign the forward, as are another unnamed Premier League side. West Ham are desperate to win the race to sign Gueye and have entered into talks with Metz in order to conclude a deal.

As per Foot Mercato’s report, West Ham’s talks with the player are proceeding well. Les Grenats are aware that it will be difficult to retain the player, however, they have set a high asking price. The club, promoted back to Ligue 1, are demanding a €15m fee. West Ham are now preparing a new offer to get the deal done.
