West Ham United are gearing up for a busy summer transfer window, with the club expected to sanction another major squad shake-up.

One area that should be a priority is attack, with Graham Potter’s side struggling to pose a threat without a prolific striker.

Michail Antonio is sidelined for the rest of the season after surviving a horrific car crash but is hoping he can return to action before then.

However, he was struggling to make any difference before the accident, and there’s no telling how long he will need to shake off the rust.

The same can be said about summer signing Niclas Fullkrug, who has been in and out of the squad throughout the season due to injuries.

Loan addition Evan Ferguson has hardly made any difference.

With Mohammed Kudus also out of sorts this season, Jarrod Bowen has shouldered the goalscoring burden for the Hammers, notching seven goals and five assists in 25 Premier League games.

The Hammers can’t afford to kick off next season without a prolific marksman leading the line, and it appears they’re closing in on a first summer signing.

Yuri Alberto’s agent confirms West Ham offer

West Ham are long-term admirers of Brazilian ace Yuri Alberto. The striker’s agent, Andre Cury, has now confirmed that there’s an offer on the table from the Hammers.

“Our job is to take the proposal to the club,” he said (via Ge Globo).

“We have already had offers from Wolverhampton [Wanderers], West Ham, from [Real] Betis, from Spain, from Italy.

“But the player is young. Every player who is in South America thinks of playing in Europe, and with Yuri, it is no different.

“If there is a good opportunity that is good for him and the club, we will talk.”

Alberto could be a decent addition to Potter’s side. He has been consistent for Corinthians, netting 31 goals and seven assists in 57 appearances last term.

He has registered seven goals in 17 outings this season.

If West Ham win the race for Alberto, they’d still need to sign another striker, given that they could lose both Antonio and Fullkrug this summer.
