FLW's Watford fan pundit has given his verdict on the club's busy summer window amid Nestory Irankunda deal

Watford are closing in on a deal for Nestory Irankunda from Bayern Munich.
According to the Watford Observer, the Hornets will sign the 19-year-old on a permanent basis.
It has been claimed by Fabrizio Romano that the deal will cost the Championship club €4 (£3.5) million to complete, with a 50 percent sell-on clause also agreed as part of the move.
The winger was unable to break into the German giant’s first-team plans, but he impressed at a very young age in the A-League with Adelaide, and he also featured 19 times last season with Grasshopper in the Swiss Super League.
When asked about the club’s busy summer, and if the Pozzo family have fresh Premier League ambitions, FLW’s Watford fan pundit Justin Beattie claimed this transfer window has been a pleasant surprise.
He believes that the owners do harbour ambitions to return the Hornets to the top flight, but that the proof of that won’t be truly seen until results on the pitch improve.
“I think most Watford supporters have been pleasantly surprised by what’s going on in terms of transfer activity over the summer,” Beattie told Football League World.
“We’ve had several transfer windows now, both in the summer and during January, where it’s just been an abject disappointment, and the final place in the table tells its own story.
“I think this shows the Pozzos have got fresh Premier League ambitions for this season.
“And as always, the proof in the pudding will be in the eating, but to be seeing transfers coming in and to be linked with players is something that we haven’t been used to at Watford for quite a while now.
“So, this does feel different.”
Watford have already completed five signings this summer, bringing in Othmane Maamma, Marc Bola, Nathan Baxter, Hector Kyprianou and Vivaldo Semedo.
Watford finished an underwhelming 14th last season, which led to Tom Cleverley losing his position as manager.
Paulo Pezzolano will be under pressure to immediately improve on that when the season gets underway with all of these new signings.
The likes of Irankunda coming in is an exciting addition, and further strengthens Watford’s recent push for younger talent.
