Manchester City chairman Khaldoon Al-Mubarak has today spoken of Manchester City’s goal to be decisive in the summer transfer market. The Manchester City chairman spoke of his team’s aim to complete their summer signings ahead of the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup. On that front, two new reports have emerged that Manchester City’s moves for AC Milan midfielder Tijjani Reijnders and Lyon playmaker Rayan Cherki are progressing. That is a good sign ahead of the transfer window opening.

Manchester City’s moves for Tijjani Reijnders and Rayan Cherki are beginning to take shape.

First of all, Susy Campanale relayed a report from La Gazzetta dello Sport for Football Italia that Manchester City and AC Milan were due to meet today to further discuss a deal that would see Tijjani Reijnders move to the Etihad. Furthermore, Campanale reports that AC Milan is demanding a transfer fee of €70 million to sell Reijnders. Campanale adds that Manchester City are determined to sign Tijjani Reijnders before the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup. Lastly, Campanale adds that AC Milan feels that Reijnders’ move to Manchester City is now inevitable.

Secondly, Fraser Fletcher has reported for TeamTalk that Rayan Cherki has expressed his desire to move to Manchester City this summer. Furthermore, Fletcher further reports that Cherki believes that a move to the Etihad aligns with his vision to play at the highest level. Lastly, Fletcher adds that Manchester City and Lyon have had contact over a potential deal that would see Cherki sign for Manchester City.

Manchester City aren’t wasting any time to make their first summer signings.

Based on the two reports listed above, Manchester City aren’t wasting any time making their moves in the transfer market. To sign players before the FIFA Club World Cup, City have no time to waste. The transfer window is set to be open from the 1st of June until the 10th of June. That allows the opportunity for Manchester City to fulfil Khaldoon Al-Mubarak’s goal. Time is now of the essence for Manchester City. They will want speedy negotiations with AC Milan and Lyon to sign Reijnders and Cherki. That appears to be a realistic possibility based on today’s latest updates.

Manchester City’s moves for Tijjani Reijnders and Rayan Cherki appear to be accelerating. It now remains to be seen if they can sign both players before they set off for the FIFA Club World Cup.
