It’s funny how things work out….

Had Celtic won the recent Glasgow Derby the league title would have actually been won yesterday afternoon without Celtic kicking a ball due to Hibs taking their turn to batter theRangers at Ibrox to make it five consecutive defeats for the combined efforts of Philippe Clement and Barry Ferguson.

Yes the Celtic support at McDiarmid Park today would have enjoyed the game and win, lose or draw there would have been a post match party which would as is usually the case be happening at an away venue rather than at Celtic Park.

Winning the league when we’re not playing is the worst option, although we’d have taken it.

Now though Brendan Rodgers takes his side to Perth today knowing that a victory over relegation bound St Johnstone – who unlike Celtic had a bad day yesterday with the other both Dundee and Kilmarnock winning. The only positive was Aberdeen winning in Dingwall. St Johnstone are now eight points behind Dundee and nine behind both Ross County and Kilmarnock with just seven games remaining for Simo Valakari, starting with today’s visit from the 2024/25 Champions Elect Celtic.

A rare chance to see title won at Paradise

If Celtic take the three points in Perth then that sets up a title party on Saturday afternoon when Kilmarnock are the visitors and Brendan Rodgers’ team get the chance to make certain of a 13th title in 14 seasons in front of the Celtic season ticket holders. Kilmarnock’s travelling support, always small in numbers will be pushed into the away corner to allow as many Celtic supporters as possible to attend.

“Come on over to my place…”

Sky Sports made the correct call

Sky Sports took no chances with their scheduling decisions opting to select this Celtic v Kilmarnock match as their live broadcast, and in doing so the game was moved forward from 3pm to a 12.30pm kick-off. Perfect as it leaves plenty of time for a title winning party afterwards.

Win today Celtic and on Saturday Glasgow really will be green and white! Three points today and set up a  Perfect Day  in Paradise. Even the weather forecast is excellent for next weekend!

And another thing

We certainly can’t complain about 13 titles in 14 seasons but the one that was lost was due a global pandemic where theRangers had the luxury of playing at an empty Ibrox. This club has never won a title when the supporters were allowed to attend football.

Certainly Celtic would have been better that season and the pressure that theRangers players would have been put under by their own angry mob could have made all the difference. For us it doesn’t matter a jot but for them they really need to change their dynamic over the road if they are going to ever win a Scottish Premiership title without the assistance of a fan-free season due to a global pandemic.

Enjoy the game today folks!
