Tottenham Hotspur are likely to heavily rotate their starting eleven as they take on Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League this Sunday April 13th, with kick-off at 14:00 BST.
Tottenham XI (4-3-3): Vicario; Porro, Gray, Davies, Spence; Sarr, Bissouma Maddison; Moore, Tel Richarlison.
Expect huge changes for Tottenham here. With the second-leg of the Europa League quarter final against Eintracht Frankfurt the priority on Thursday night, boss Ange Postecoglou will rest several first-choice players before the trip to Germany on which Spurs’ season hangs.
Injuries to centre-backs Radu Dragusin and Kevin Danso will mean that at least one defensive player will keep his place from Thursday night and that could be Pedro Porro as Destiny Udogie went down with an injury in Thursday’s 1-1 draw with die Adler and both Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven have suffered with several injury problems this term so will likely not be risked.
Both Pape Matar Sarr and Yves Bissouma will be handed starts in midfield, while Richarlison could be in line for a rare start in attack. The wide positions are the most interesting and it remains to be seen whether Wilson Odobert is fit enough to start following his recovery from a hamstring problem, so Mikey Moore and Mathys Tel could be preferred in the wide positions.
Dejan Kulusevski remains the key absentee and he is likely to be missing for the trip to Germany as well as this game.
It’s been a woeful Premier League season for Tottenham and they make the trip to Molineux on Sunday sitting in 14th place despite a win over Southampton last time out bringing a four game winless streak to an end.
A long-running injury crisis has halted the team’s progress under Ange Postecoglou this season but they have at least managed to progress to the final eight stage in the Europa League.
The first-leg of their Quarter Final with Frankfurt on Thursday made for entertaining viewing, although fans in North London will have been hoping their team would’ve been able to earn a lead to take to Deutsche Bank Park next week.
A clever Pedro Porro finish saw Spurs claw themselves back into the tie after Hugo Ekitike had given die Adler an early lead, but Spurs enjoyed the lions’ share of the chances in the second half.
Lucas Bergvall and Rodrigo Bentancur both struck the woodwork and young Brazilian keeper Kaua Santos, covering for the injured Kevin Trapp, made two key saves to prevent Heung-min Son and Micky van de Ven from putting Tottenham ahead.
With Ange Postecolgou’s job seemingly on the line, he knows the importance of that trip to Germany on Thursday night and that’s likely to mean a heavily rotated starting eleven on Sunday with little to play for but pride in the Premier League.
