In a recent report, Football Insider mentioned that Tottenham Hotspur have joined the race for OGC Nice striker Evann Guessand this summer. It is believed that Spurs would have to compete with Brighton and Hove Albion, West Ham United and Wolverhampton Wanderers in pursuit of the Ivory Coast talent this off-season.

Guessand’s Impressive Form In French Football

Guessand put in a string of impressive displays as the focal point of Nice’s attack in the previous campaign. The France-born talent registered 13 goals and grabbed ten assists in 42 matches for his current employers last season across all fronts.

The 24-year-old was a decent performer in the final third and did well to average 2.21 shots per 90 minutes in Ligue 1. He was even tidy when distributing possession in the final third based on his pass completion rate of 42.9% in the French top tier (stats via fbref.com).

Guessand is under contract at the French club until the summer of 2028 which could make it tough for Spurs to snap him up on the cheap this summer.

Should Tottenham Hotspur Boss Thomas Frank Go For Guessand?

Guessand excels at finding some space for himself to get a few strikes in at goal. He has got the eye to play some decisive passes in the final third and is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet.

The Ivory Coast talent can chip in by scoring and creating a handful of goals for his team up top. However, the jury is still out on whether he can maintain his good form in the Premier League if Spurs manage to bring him on board this summer.

We can expect Guessand to bring more firepower to Tottenham head coach Thomas Frank’s attack. He is good enough to compete for regular first-team football at the North London club next season.

At 24, Guessand has his peak years ahead of him which makes him a decent target for Spurs to pursue in this summer transfer period. He might even help Tottenham challenge across all fronts in the coming years. All in all, Frank would be wise to go for a player of Guessand’s skill set this summer.
