In a recent report, The Telegraph claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are eyeing a move for Monaco playmaker Maghnes Akliouche this summer. It has been stated that Spurs are keeping a keen eye on the French attacker ahead of a potential move in this transfer window.

Akliouche had a fruitful campaign at the French club after he put in a string of impressive displays for them in Ligue 1. The 23-year-old found the back of the net seven times and earned 12 assists in 43 appearances for Monaco last season across multiple competitions.

The French sensation managed to catch the eye in the final third by averaging 2.28 shots per 90 minutes in Ligue 1. He kept 27.9% of his attempts on target. Akliouche was even accurate with his ball distribution after completing 81.3% of his attempted passes in the top tier of French football (stats via fbref.com).

His current contract at the French club will run out in the summer of 2028, which could make it tough for Spurs to sign him on a cut-price deal in this transfer period.

Will Akliouche Be A Good Option For Tottenham Hotspur Boss Thomas Frank?

Akliouche is a decent dribbler with the ball at his feet and has got the eye to play some decisive passes in the final third. He can strike the ball with venom from long range as well and can chip in by scoring and creating his fair share of goals up top.

The French talent is primarily a right-winger but can also operate in the number ten position if needed. However, it remains to be seen whether he can adapt to the physical side and high intensity of the Premier League if Spurs manage to bring him on board this summer.

Akliouche would no doubt enhance the quality of Tottenham head coach Thomas Frank’s frontline. He is capable of earning a regular first-team spot at the North London club this season.

At 23, Akliouche has his best years ahead of him, which makes him a decent option for Tottenham to pursue in this transfer window. However, Frank has to give him some time before he can unlock the best out of the talented Frenchman in English football.
