Thomas Frank has said he is ‘falling in love’ with his Tottenham team after a perfect start to the Premier League season.

The North Londoners moved top of the Premier League table with a 2-0 win at Manchester City on Saturday lunchtime. Goals from Brennan Johnson and Joao Palhinha earned the three points, which followed an impressive opening-day win over Burnley.

Spurs were impressive at the Etihad, with early signs of Frank’s game-plan. Their high press unsettled the home side and led to the second goal, as Pape Matar Sarr capitalised on a slack City pass to steal possession in the build-up.

Frank was delighted with his team, who have earned back-to-back wins and clean sheets under the new head coach. The Dane was delighted with the display from his team.

“Very pleasing result and overall performance,” he told BBC Sport at full-time.

“The first 35 minutes City were slightly on top. That goal helped. A big thing in these games against City, who are a top team, is stay in the game and keep doing what you’re doing.

“In the second half we were exceptional in many ways. We constantly went for the 3-0 goal which unfortunately we didn’t get.

“It was the second clean sheet in a row. Last year we got six. That’s been a big thing for me.

“I loved Brentford and I am falling in love with this club here.

“Last season was a tough season ending on high. I came into the club and saw a strong mentality and togetherness with the players.

“The team all performed so well and worked so hard. Very happy.

“It’s probably one of the better ones [wins], coming here to Etihad and Pep’s City is a tough task. It’s one game at a time and put as many top performances and magical moments in and see where we are.”
