Girona FC has reached an agreement with Atlético de Madrid for the loan of player Thomas Lemar until the end of the 2025-2026 season.

Born in Baie-Mahault, on the island of Guadeloupe in November 1995, the new red-and-white footballer has been an international with the French national team and has extensive experience in European competitions. Lemar strengthens the red-and-white squad with his talent, vision of the game, and ability to create imbalance from the second line.

Career

Thomas Lemar was trained in the youth ranks of SM Caen, with whom he debuted in Ligue 1 in 2013. His performance led him to AS Monaco, a club where he established himself as one of the great promises of French football and with whom he won Ligue 1 in the 2016-2017 season. His excellent campaign at Monaco opened the doors to Atlético de Madrid, where he arrived in the summer of 2018. With the Madrid team, he has played more than 170 matches and has been an important part of the conquest of LaLiga 2020-2021. He has also participated in multiple editions of the Champions League and the Europa League, accumulating significant international experience.

At the national team level, Lemar has been a full international with France since 2016, being part of the generation that won the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

Thomas Lemar is a versatile footballer who can play as a central midfielder, attacking midfielder, or left winger. He is characterized by his great technical quality, ability to link up play, and tactical intelligence.
