Girona FC secured a new victory this afternoon in the fourth preseason friendly, narrowly defeating Alavés (1-0) at the Vilablareix training center. The winning goal was scored by Asprilla in the first half, finishing off a great play by debutant Hugo Rincón.
Míchel's team started with a lineup full of youth and enthusiasm, featuring names like Antal, Dawda, Lass Kourouma, and Joel Roca, who once again showcased the quality of the red-and-white academy. Despite a fairly calm start to the match, Girona gradually took control of the game as the minutes passed. Roca, very active on the left, had the first clear chances, but Raúl Fernández prevented the goal with some impressive saves.
The decisive moment came in the 43rd minute. Hugo Rincón, a recent addition at right-back who had only completed one training session with the team, broke through the lines with a move down the flank and delivered a precise assist to Asprilla, who made no mistake. An exciting debut for the young full-back, who showed a clear offensive mindset and good chemistry with his teammates from the very start.
The second half was more demanding. Alavés stepped up their game and pushed hard for an equalizer, but they encountered a very solid Girona defense. The clearest chance for the Basque side came five minutes before the end, when Mariano had a penalty opportunity to level the match. The forward sent the ball over the crossbar, and the scoreline remained unchanged.
With this victory, Girona concludes their fourth preseason test with positive feelings, another clean sheet, and a standout debut from Rincón. The team continues their preparation with confidence and a desire to keep improving ahead of the official start of the season.
