THE ROSSONERE SIGN OFF WITH A 3-1 WIN OVER SAMPDORIA

A victory to say goodbye to the season, an afternoon to say farewell to Laura Fusetti on in her final game as a professional footballer: it ended 3-1 for the Rossonere thanks to an Asllani brace and Marinelli grabbing the third. It was a good performance and a deserved win for the home side. Off the pitch, however, the emotions were high: before the game, Laura received an award by President Scaroni and handed over the number six shirt to Primavera captain, Nadine Sorelli, who will wear the jersey from next year. After the final whistle, the whole team celebrated with the number 6, who was also joined by her family.

The Women's First Team’s season comes to an end with a sixth-placed finish in the table on 41 points, following a Relegation Round without defeat and a run of going unbeaten in ten. It‘s some consolation that allows us to look to next season and the future with quiet confidence and optimism. Speaking of the future, Coach Zago's celebration at half-time for the Primavera team was significant, a week after the Scudetto win in Florence against Sassuolo. However, the Rossonere’s fixture commitments are not over yet: from 9 to 16 June, we will be in Mexico for the Her Nations Tour.

MATCH REPORT The Rossonere flew out of the traps quickly, surging forward from the first minute and scoring in the 4th minute through Asllani, following Dompig's right-footed low cross. The lead was almost doubled in the 7th minute when Ijeh did everything right but put the ball away, shooting weakly, allowing Tampieri to save. However, the second eventually came in the 22nd minute with a carbon copy of the opener: this time, it was Guagni with the cross and Asllani finishing with her left to make it 2-0. The match seems to be dying down a little before Tampieri made an outstanding save from Dubcová in the 24th minute to stop the scoreline from going to 3-0 in the home side's favour. Sampdoria, second best and struggling to respond up to this point, found some space on the counterattack and forced Babb to rush out in the 36th minute. At the end of the half, Tampieri denied Ijeh in the 44th minute with a knee save, while Guagni's cross-come-shot hit the crossbar.

The second half saw Marinelli replace Ijeh, but the Rossonere's dominance not one bit: Dompig tried her luck twice, but was denied on both occasions by the opposing goalkeeper. In the 53rd minute, Guagni found Asllani again in the center of the area, but this time Kosse shot over. Those AC Milan wasted chances gave Sampdoria some hope, but they had Babb to contend with, who made three timely saves on different occasions. In the 70th minute, there was a standing ovation around the PUMA House of Football for Fusetti, who came off for Mesjasz. Sampdoria reduced the deficit in the 74th minute with Re's header following a corner. In the closing stages, Coach Corti also gave space to Matilde Copetti between the goalposts, and deep into injury time Marinelli grabbed the Rossonere's third goal on the counterattack from Bergamaschi's assist. The final whistle blew to end the game and the season.
