Serie A outfits Milan are set to welcome a rather bleak home crowd for their Champions League opener against Liverpool.
According to a report by Antonio Vitiello of Milannews.it, Milan will not have a fully packed San Siro for tonight’s clash versus Liverpool. While this is one of the most anticipated matches of this season’s Champions League as this is a classic European derby, the Rossoneri faithful have been left baffled by their side’s recent performances and therefore there will be fewer fans in the stadium.
As per the data received from ticket sales, a total of 59 thousand fans will be in the stadium for the clash, out of which 4 thousand will arrive from Merseyside.
Following an underwhelming start to the new season, Paulo Fonseca brought his team back to winning ways with a resounding 4-0 victory over Venezia in their previous game. Theo Hernandez, Youssouf Fofana, Christian Pulisic, and Tammy Abraham were on the scoresheet to get their squad back on track to compete in all of the competitions they are playing in this campaign.
Despite the win against Venezia, Milan fans and its management alike will be closely following the proceedings as Fonseca’s job is still under threat.
