Head coach Sebastian Hoeneß took centre stage as he led the first session of the new campaign, bringing his squad and staff together in a circle before engaging actively throughout.
Following the session, Honeß spoke to club media and expressed his satisfaction with the energy on and off the pitch: “It was a very positive start to our preparations,” said Hoeneß. “Fantastic to see so many fans present, it's a real joy to begin the new season with that kind of support.”
“After winning the DFB-Pokal, we had a truly pleasant and relaxing summer break. The batteries are fully recharged. We're all excited to get going again and are ready to work hard to get into top form.”
VfB have also made some notable additions this summer, and the head coach is already pleased with how the new faces are integrating: “The first impression is very positive. The boys are really open, have clear goals, and are excited about joining the squad and VfB as a club,” he noted.
“I've already had some good conversations with them over the past few days. With Lorenz Assignon, Lazar Jovanovic, and Noah Darvich, we've brought in quality footballers.”
With die Schwaben set to compete once again in three competitions this season, Hoeneß emphasised the importance of a structured and purposeful pre-season period: “We want to get into a good rythym and work on many elements that are essential to our style of play,” he explained.
“It's crucial we build a solid foundation; we're competing in three tournaments again, so we need to make the most of this preparation period.”
Stuttgart's first competitive match of the new season will be a special one, the newly renamed Franz Beckenbauer Supercup against Bayern München on August 16th. Hoeneß sees this as a major opportunity: “It's still a few weeks away, but playing such a final in Stuttgart is a real highlight,” he said.
"We have a shot at a trophy. At the start of last season, we were already close, only losing to Leverkusen on penalties. The motivation to win the Supercup is huge.
VfB will begin their Bundesliga campaign away at Union Berlin a week later.
