Mo Salah admits Liverpool did not play well despite beating Southampton to move one step closer to the Premier League title.
The Reds found themselves a goal down at half-time after a mix-up between Virgil van Dijk and Alisson allowed Will Smallbone to score.
But Darwin Nunez equalised right after the restart before Salah scored twice from the penalty to spot to secure a 3-1 victory at Anfield.
Liverpool can win the title with six more victories, moving 16 points clear of Arsenal but having played two games more than the Gunners.
But ahead of a huge Champions League round of 16 second-leg clash with Paris St Germain, Salah has urged his side to improve.
“Southampton had a good game plan,” he admitted to Premier League Productions.
On what manager Arne Slot said to the players at half-time, Salah continued: “It was a bit of frustration. His head was going for us. We were sloppy and slow in the first half.
“I don’t think we played good today. If you want to win the Champions League or Premier League you have to win these games like that.”
Liverpool take a one-goal lead into their game against PSG despite Slot admitting his side were lucky to secure victory in their first-leg clash.
Harvey Elliott, who scored the all important winner in Paris, says the last two games have been especially tough for the team.
“The last two games have been very tough – it is not about me, it’s about the whole team,” he told BBC Radio Five Live.
“It was an intense game. Especially with the travel, we only had one day to prepare for this game and hats off to Southampton – they made it tough throughout the whole game.
“We need to keep winning games – it’s as simple as that.
“It’s about taking it game-by-game and making sure we apply ourselves in the best possible way.”
