It was a special day for the Liverpool star who netted twice in the comeback win
Liverpool star Mohamed Salah has revealed Arne Slot was “going for us” at half-time against Southampton.
The Reds trailed at the break as Will Smallbone took advantage of a rare defensive mix-up involving Alisson Becker and Virgil van Dijk to give the Premier League’s bottom team a shock lead at the home of the runaway leaders.
However, Liverpool were much improved after the break and equalised six minutes into the second half as Darwin Nunez turned home Luis Diaz’s cross from close range before winning a penalty moments later.
Going down in the box under a challenge from Smallbone, the Uruguayan certainly played a huge role in the comeback.
Salah made no mistake from 12 yards to put the hosts in front before sealing the victory three minutes from time thanks to another penalty after Saints substitute Yukinari Sugawara was adjudged to have handled the ball.
The 3-1 win takes Liverpool 16 points clear at the top of the table, albeit possibly only for 24 hours as Arsenal face Manchester United later this weekend, as they move one step closer to being crowned Premier League champions.

However, Salah has revealed head coach Slot - who watched the game from the stands due to his touchline ban - was not happy with the first-half performance from his side and let the players know.
"It was a bit of frustration. His head was going for us,” Salah told Premier League productions. “We were sloppy and slow in the first half. I don't think we played good today.
“If you want to win the Champions League or Premier League you have to win these games like that."
Salah’s second half brace meant he reached two milestones in the process. His first penalty saw him become the third-highest scorer in Liverpool history outright with 242 goals.
His second penalty leaves him as the joint-fifth top scorer in Premier League history, along with Sergio Aguero, on 184 goals.
