Inter Milan and Canada wingback Tajon Buchanan has suffered an injury to his tibia.

This according to Canadian journalist Matthew Scianitti. He reports in a Tweet that it is not yet certain whether or not the 25-year-old will require surgery for the injury.

Over the past couple of weeks, Inter wingback Buchanan has been with the Canadian national team for the Copa America.

The Inter player started in the opening match of the tournament, a 2-0 defeat against Argentina.

And then Buchanan came off the bench in subsequent group stage matches as well. Canada beat Peru and drew with Chile to reach the knockout rounds.

Canada face Venezuela in the quarterfinals of the tournament later this week.

However, Buchanan will miss that match. The Inter man will miss the remainder of the Copa America – and it is currently unclear when exactly he will be able to return.

The reason is a serious leg injury that he suffered in training today.

And according to journalist Scianitti, the problem for Buchanan was an injury to his tibia or shinbone.

Buchanan had to be taken to hospital earlier today. This was because of an injury that the Canadian had suffered in training during the Copa America.

According to journalist Scianitti of Canadian broadcaster TSN, the injury was to Buchanan’s shinbone.

Currently, Buchanan is recovering from his injury.

However, it is not yet certain whether or not the Canadian international will require surgery to fix the problem.

What is clear is that Buchanan will miss the rest of the Copa. But it now looks as though he could also miss a significant portion of Inter’s preseason training.

Buchanan has been an Inter player since January of this year.

The 25-year-old joined the Nerazzurri from Club Brugge during the January transfer window.

Buchanan did not make a start for Inter during his first half-season at the club. However, he did score his first goal off the bench in a Serie A win over Frosinone.
