Buongiorno still has Inter option despite Napoli agreement – report | OneFootball

Torino and Italy defender Alessandro Buongiorno will have to decide between Napoli and Inter, despite the Partenopei having reached an agreement with his current employers on Wednesday night, according to the latest updates.

Napoli close to Buongiorno agreement, but Inter still lurking

Napoli, specifically sporting director Giovanni Manna, had a meeting with the player’s agent, Beppe Riso on Wednesday, and virtually shook hands over an agreement worth a total of €40m made up of €35m plus €5m in bonuses.

There has, however, not yet been an agreement on personal terms. That said, Napoli are confident of completing that part of negotiations soon as well, according to reports from Sky Sport Italia.

The key to Napoli’s agreement with Buongiorno could be the inclusion of a release clause later down the line, which would allow the sought-after centre-back to move on to a different club in a few years’ time should he want to.

Sky suggest that the release clause could stand at a sum of around €70m, which could become active three years into his stay in Naples.

However, Napoli must still be wary of Inter, who have also spoken to the agent Riso to discuss a possible move to San Siro.

Riso has confirmed that he has had “a bit of chit-chat and a few jokes” with representatives from Inter in recent days. Sky report that Inter’s interest in Buongiorno is genuine and serious, and not just an attempt to unsettle Napoli.

Buongiorno is now expected to take a few days to reflect and speak again with his agent. He is expected to either agree to a deal with Napoli, or hold out for a potential offer from Inter.
