Mateus Fernandes is keen on a move to West Ham, which could play a big part in whether he moves to east London this summer.

Although West Ham were rejected in the opening approach to sign Fernandes, with a £30m bid firmly rejected by the Saints, there is still belief that talks may be resurrected, with both the player and agent eager for the transfer to occur.

It’s not yet known whether Fernandes is to try and force the move, with West Ham currently looking at alternative options, but it is clear that chances of the club signing the Portuguese are certainly not over.

Saint manager and known West Ham fan Will Still has already hinted that players will be sold this summer, with the new boss undoubtedly keen to build his team for this season and to seek promotion back to the top flight.

Despite Southampton’s tough stance, there is a feeling that player power will play a big role in this, with West Ham now ready to wait and then re-enter the talks at the right time.
