During a press appearance, Hoeneß had labeled pundits like Didi Hamann, Lothar Matthäus and Michael Reschke as “a thorn in the eye,” suggesting their analysis, especially when it comes to the transfer market, was unhelpful and unfair.
In an interview with “Sport1”, Bayern's former technical director Reschke, who worked alongside Hoeneß during his tenure as president, responded with clarity and poise:
“Next time I see him, I’ll definitely ask him about it – you can count on that. Mainly because I’m curious: Uli, what exactly do you mean when it comes to me?”
Despite Hoeneß’s public jab, Reschke was quick to stress that he still holds deep respect for the Bayern legend:
“Even after this, what matters more to me is the respect I have for Uli. I once went through a very difficult phase in my life and during that time, Uli Hoeneß supported me immensely. I’ll never forget that, and I’m deeply thankful to him.”
While making it clear he was willing to question Hoeneß directly, Reschke added with a hint of humor:
“Uli still has a few free shots with me. He can do that. I also think you have got to be able to take “shots” like these in this business.”
Michael Reschke's last official job in the world of football was the position as technical director of Schalke 04 in 2020. After that, Reschke was working for the British consulting agency “ICMStellar” and also worked as a pundit/expert for various news outlets.
