AC Milan are ready to move for Inter Milan linked Parma defender Giovanni Leoni to replace defender Malick Thiaw.

This according to Italian broadcaster SportMediaset, via FCInterNews.

AC Milan are reportedly on the verge of selling defender Malick Thiaw to Newcastle United.

The Rossoneri will receive a fee of around €40 million for the German international.

And this could have major knock-on effects elsewhere in the transfer market.

Clearly, if Milan complete the deal to sell Thiaw, they will move for a replacement.

One name that has been linked with Milan for some time is defender Giovanni Leoni. The 19-year-old is highly, with both Inter and Liverpool also keen.

According to Italian broadcaster SportMediaset, Milan are ready to go after Leoni as a replacement for Thiaw.

So much so, in fact, that the Rossoneri have already made contact with the 19-year-old’s representatives according to the broadcaster.

Leoni will not come cheap. Parma are holding out for a sizable fee considering the significant interest of Inter Milan and Liverpool among others.

However, according to Mediaset, Milan will make direct contact with Parma in the next few days.
