Serie A referee designator Gianluca Rocchi criticized the league’s officiating during the last Serie A matchday.

In an interview with Sky Sport, Rocchi spoke about the most recent round of games which involved serious controversy as a result of decisions made by Rocchi’s referees.

One of such episodes was the much talked about foul on Tommaso Baldanzi in the final minutes of Monza 1-1 Roma.

“The last day put us in difficulty because we made some mistakes in our interpretations. The difference between those who comment and us is that we have to follow a precise rule.”

“If, according to the rule, the decisions are correct, it is complicated to make everyone accept them. Sometimes it is difficult to make certain choices understood, both for us and for those who watch.”

“VAR was born with the idea of ​​intervening only in the case of serious errors. We are not off track, we are aligned with European competitions and other leagues, except the Premier League. However, the intervention of VAR has expanded.”
