Saturday's match between the Los Angeles Galaxy and Minnesota United FC ended in a stalemate. Both teams scored twice giving each squad one point in the MLS Western Conference standings.
While Minnesota United entered the game as the fifth best team in the conference, the LA Galaxy potentially move from the bottom (15th) to 13th. That is if both Sporting Kansas City and the Houston Dynamo lose.
In what was literally a back and forth game, the LA Galaxy was able to salvage a potential loss and net a 2-2 draw. Kelvin Yeboah scored first at the 18th minute prior to Christian Ramirez's second goal of the 2025 season.
Yeboah scored again at the 87th minute on a penalty kick. LA Galaxy defender Carlos Garces scored his first career goal at the 90th minute to award the six-time MLS Cup winners their second point in the standings in as many games.
"I think for us, it's continuing to find ways where we can take a game like that. As we continue to get healthy and settle in and do all those things, there's times that we cannot play the big ball, because that's what they love, and see if we can't put it on the floor and build out of some of their pressure and open them up from those situations. "Greg Vanney, Head Coach of the LA Galaxy
The Los Angeles Galaxy entered Saturday's game having only scored just two goals in the 2025 season. They scored 69 goals in 2024.
Against Minnesota United, the LA Galaxy scored twice. That led to them finishing with their second consecutive draw as they earned a point in the 1-1 tie against the Portland Timbers on the road last weekend.
Sporting Kansas City managed to tie Minnesota last week, 3-3. Their 2-0 loss against LAFC on Saturday kept them below the LA Galaxy in the MLS Western Conference Standings.
Had the LA Galaxy lost on Saturday, it would have dampened Christian Ramirez's return to his first MLS club's site. Luckily, his new team was able to leave Minnesota with the draw and avoid a fourth loss early on this regular season.
The Los Angeles Galaxy play their sixth game of the 30th MLS season on Saturday, March 29th at home against Orlando City SC. This will be the first Eastern Conference opponent for the 2024 MLS Cup champions.
