Life is tough as a player in Real Madrid’s academy. It’s a constant balance of trying to get as much football experience as possible, whilst also understanding that the team you play for is one of the toughest to break into in the world.

This is why many of Real Madrid’s youngsters end up leaving the club for more playing time. This was the case for 19-year-old right-back Álex Jiménez, who completed his move to AC Milan on Friday.

As per Relevo, this move comes after the youngster spent last season on loan at The Rossoneri, and played for the club’s reserves.

Despite not becoming a first-team regular at the Italian club, Jiménez clearly thinks he has a better chance of doing so than he does for Real Madrid, as he completes his €5 million transfer.

Jiménez had been a part of the setup at Los Blancos since 2012, when he joined the club at seven years of age, and played in every age category at the Madrid club.

Jiménez managed to make his debut in Serie A last season, playing three games in the Italian league, along with two more in the Coppa Italia.

The youngster will be hoping that he has a pathway to more regular first-team football in the years to come, as AC Milan look to improve upon their second-placed finish last time out.
