La Liga giants Real Madrid are ready to offer a new contract to young defender Raúl Asencio.

That’s according to transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, who has on Monday provided an insight into the latest developments behind the scenes in Spain’s capital.

Asencio has of course enjoyed something of an explosion onto the Spanish football landscape over the course of recent weeks.

Amid an ongoing injury crisis at the heart of Carlo Ancelotti’s Real Madrid backline, the 21-year-old has been thrust into the spotlight, with appearances in each of Los Blancos’ last three fixtures.

And, along the way, Asencio has thoroughly impressed.

Looking equally at ease on both sides of the ball, the youngster already looks like a player capable of carving out a long career for himself at the top level of the game.

And, if the latest word stemming from the media is anything to go by, then those in a position of power at the Santiago Bernabéu are evidently hopeful of as much playing out on the books of Real.

‘Real Madrid are planning to offer Raúl Asencio a new contract as they’re very happy with his impact.’

Asencio’s current terms in Madrid are due to expire in the summer of 2026.
