Real Madrid are aiming to close the gap to Barcelona for the third successive matchday, following on the Catalans’ defeat to Las Palmas 24 hours ago. They are on course to do it having taken the lead in their local derby clash against Getafe at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Carlo Ancelotti’s side have dominated the early stages, albeit without troubling Getafe goalkeeper David Soria. However, the lead has come on 30 minutes after Jude Bellingham converted from the penalty spot.
Antonio Rudiger won the penalty after being fouled by Allan Nyom, and it is ice cold composure from Bellingham, who has taken over spot-kick duties after Kylian Mbappe’s midweek miss against Liverpool.
Real Madrid have not been at their best in recent weeks, but they are on course to cut the deficit between themselves and Barcelona once again. They should be able to hold on to this lead until full time, and they will fancy their chances of adding to it.
