According to a recent report from Fichajes, Real Madrid have set their sights on PSG’s Vitinha as the perfect player to fill the massive gap Luka Modric will leave behind.

Modric, one of the greatest players in the club’s history, is set to say goodbye to Real Madrid after the FIFA Club World Cup, marking the end of a golden era in midfield.

Interestingly, Xabi Alonso sees replacing Modric as a top priority. He believes the team needs someone with great vision, smooth technique, and the courage to take responsibility from the first game.

Madrid will miss Modric

The Croatian’s departure means Real Madrid’s midfield will lose the last of the legendary midfield trio of Toni Kroos, Casemiro and Modric himself, who led them to European glory over the past decade.

These players have been the heartbeat of the team, setting the rhythm and controlling matches.

Without Modric, Real Madrid risk losing the stability and creativity that helped them dominate Europe, which is why the club’s sporting directors want a player with talent, intelligence, and maturity to take over immediately.

Vitinha emerges as the favourite choice

Vitinha has impressed with his performances at PSG and his creativity, sharp passing, and game intelligence have caught the eyes of Real Madrid scouts.

However, signing him will not be easy. Vitinha’s contract with PSG runs until 2029, and everyone at Real Madrid knows that negotiating with the French club can be tough.

The saga with Kylian Mbappe showed just how difficult and drawn-out talks with PSG can become.

Even so, Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is keeping all options open. While Vitinha is currently the number one target, the club will wait to see how the Club World Cup unfolds and watch how the summer transfer market develops before making any final decisions.
