According to Mundo Deportivo, Lucas Vazquez’s time at Real Madrid is nearing its end.

With no renewal talks underway and his contract set to expire after the Club World Cup, the long-serving Spaniard could soon bid farewell to the Santiago Bernabeu. This comes as the club finalises the blockbuster signing of Trent Alexander-Arnold.

It must be remembered that the English right-back publicly confirmed his departure from Liverpool, and his move to Madrid is now considered a done deal.

At just 26 years old, Alexander-Arnold will reportedly sign a six-year contract, becoming Real Madrid’s first major addition of the summer.

A loyal servant overshadowed by transition

This high-profile arrival has immediate consequences. Vazquez, a loyal squad player who has covered both attacking and defensive duties over the years, is now firmly in the exit lane.

With Dani Carvajal returning from injury and Alexander-Arnold expected to start regularly, Vazquez finds himself surplus to requirements.

The Spaniard has endured a tough season, often the subject of criticism from fans amid an inconsistent campaign under Carlo Ancelotti.

Though versatile and experienced, his performances have not been enough to justify a new deal, especially in the context of Madrid’s shifting focus toward rejuvenating the squad.

No renewal in sight

The club’s renewal policy for veterans remains strict: one year at a time, and only when fully justified.

Just like Luka Modric, Vazquez’s contract ends after the Club World Cup, and unlike the Croatian maestro, the Galician winger is not expected to receive an extension.

Once seen as a reliable utility man, Vazquez’s time appears up, with Real Madrid moving towards a younger, more dynamic right-back setup featuring Carvajal and Alexander-Arnold.

For now, all signs now point to Vazquez leaving the club where he has won everything. While his exit may not come with fanfare, it closes a significant chapter of service and sacrifice at the Bernabeu.
