Lille and PSG won’t benefit from extra rest days before their Champions League RO16 first leg, respectively against Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday and Liverpool on Wednesday. According to a report from L’Equipe, the Ligue 1 game that will pit Luis Enrique’s Parisiens against Bruno Genesio’s Dogues will go ahead as planned on Saturday, March 1st at 9:05 pm CET, despite Lille’s request to postpone it. It means that Lille will face PSG away and Borussia Dortmund away in only three days. For their part, Niko Kovac’s Schwarzgelben will lock horns with relegation-fighting Sankt-Pauli on Saturday afternoon.
As for PSG, they will have four days to prepare for their home tie against Liverpool. The Premier League leaders will benefit from a full week of rest as their schedule has been cleared due to their FA Cup exit against Plymouth Argyle. Arne Slot’s Reds will host Newcastle United on Wednesday. At the same time, Luis Enrique’s Les Parisiens will play their Coupe de France quarterfinal at Rennes against fourth-tier minnows Saint-Brieuc.
