The Saudi royal spent 11 years with the Blades, first as co-owner to Kevin McCabe, assuming sole control over the club just over five years ago, before completing a deal to sell the club just before Christmas.

The 59-year-old sold his stake to American group COH Sport, which is run by Steven Rosen and Helmy Eltoukhy, and he has refused to rule out a partnership with them in the future, according to The Star.

Prince Abdullah met with the two new owners last week, offering advice and also talking the pair through some of the mistakes he felt he made during his time in charge.

Abdullah was in attendance at Bramall Lane on Sunday for the Blades' draw with West Brom as he said farewell to the club and its supporters after over a decade of involvement.

The 59-year-old spoke to BBC Radio Sheffield after the game and discussed how, if he was to ever invest in another football club, he wouldn't have the same feelings towards it as he did to Sheffield United.

He said: "You should be proud of your club, you should love and support your club. It's a very special club. It has very special DNA.

"I wouldn't trade the ups and downs with any other club in England. I may one day invest in other clubs, but I will never love any other club like I loved Sheffield United."

And The Star have reported that the 59-year-old has refused to rule out a return to Bramall Lane in the future in a potential partnership with new owners Rosen and Eltoukhy.

It perhaps wouldn't be a surprise to see him involved with the Blades again in the coming years, and it's clear that Sheffield United will always have a place in his heart after spending 11 years there.

Abdullah made it clear that he is always willing to give the club's new owners advice and guidance if they need it, and the positive relationship between the two parties should benefit the club moving forwards.

Chris Wilder's side are flying high in the Championship table despite picking up just one point from their last two games, and they're well-placed to make an immediate return to the Premier League.

Bramall Lane is a good place to be at the moment, and if they were to win promotion to the Premier League, you can guarantee that they will put up a better fight than they did last season when they were relegated with just 16 points.

It remains to be seen if Prince Abdullah will return to Sheffield United in some form in the coming years, but a positive relationship between their current owners and their old owner should help put them in the best possible position to become successful on and off the pitch.
