Piotr Zielinski will be the “wild card” in today’s top-of-the-table Serie A showdown between Napoli and Inter Milan.
This is the view in today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews.
Midfielder Piotr Zielinski will be making his first return to the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona since leaving last summer.
The Polish international spent eight years as a Napoli player. However, over the summer he decided to leave for a new challenge. Zielinski joined Inter Milan on a free transfer.
And Zielinski could have a very important role to play in his return.
The 30-year-old will not start today’s match. It will instead be the usual starting midfield trio of Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Hakan Calhanoglu, and Nicolo Barella.

However, there would be a particular tactical role for Zielinski to play.
Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi is having to work around an injury crisis at the moment.
All of Matteo Darmian, Carlos Augusto, and Nicola Zalewski are unavailable against Napoli this evening.
More than the number of injuries, the problem is that they are all in one position.
With those three wingbacks unavailable, only Federico Dimarco and Denzel Dumfries are fit as wingbacks.
One option for Inter coach Inzaghi to mitigate that crisis is to switch formations.
The coach already did change to a 4-4-2 in the second half of Tuesday’s Coppa Italia win over Lazio.
And the Corriere anticipate that Inzaghi could do something similar this evening.
Against Lazio, it was Zielinski who played on the left wing. And it could once again be down to the Pole to do the same against his old club this evening.
