Paul Parker slams ‘Ronaldo-fanboys’ for scandalous Wout Weghorst treatment

Former Manchester United defender Paul Parker feels that Cristiano Ronaldo fanboys are treating Wout Weghorst unfairly.

The Dutch striker joined on loan this month because Manchester United were in desperate need of a presence up front. Cristiano Ronaldo left under a grey cloud after underperforming for months, but it looks like there are people so hurt by that they’re looking to drag Weghorst down with them.

Speaking about the criticism Weghorst has received since joining United, Paul Parker told Soccernews: I think that people have been too harsh towards Wout Weghorst. He has only played three games and it’s way too early to judge him.

“But it is Man United and you are going to be judged. Every single player is under a massive pressure and they have to handle that 24 hours a day.

“And people have to remember that he is not a Ronaldo. Ronaldo was a better footballer but this guy is offering something different. He works hard and he wants to help the club.

“But all the Ronaldo fanboys are just throwing mud at the idiom, which is a disgrace. They should want the club to have success and not only think about their hero who has a new life in a league that only his fans care about.”

It sounds like Parker has bumped into a few Piers Morgan impersonators in recent times.

However, the on-loan target man scored his first goal for the club against Nottingham Forest during the week, and he will be looking to add to his tally when Reading come to Old Trafford on Saturday.

Weghorst has settled quickly, starting all three matches he has been available for since joining on January 13. The best trait we’ve seen so far has been his hold up play and ability to link up with Marcus Rashford and Antony.
