Red Devils legend was touted for shock return following the sacking of Erik ten Hag

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has hinted at his retirement from club management.

The Norwegian was sacked by Manchester United three years ago now and has not taken up another job since, despite being linked with a shock return following the sacking of Erik ten Hag and before the appointment of Ruben Amorim.

While the United legend did lead them to second in the Premier League and to a Europa League final, there were frequently suggestions that Solskjaer was out of his depth.

A huge transfer outlay in the summer of 2021 increased pressure and he was ultimately sacked following a 4-1 defeat at Watford in November, with Ralf Rangnick coming into replace him before Ten Hag was appointed on a full-time basis.

“Now I do exactly what I want and enjoy myself,” he told Norwegian radio NRK podcast Bakrommet.

“I'm moving in in a couple of weeks.

Solskjaer, however, did hint at potentially moving into international management.

“I think that a national team could suit me, but then it can't be on the other side of the globe.

“ had two options, but it would have taken half a day to travel, and there is a time difference in the picture, so I opted out. Even if I could then take part in the championship.”
