Nuri Sahin was left annoyed and frustrated as Borussia Dortmund dropped more points on the road, playing out a 1-1 draw against Borussia Mönchengladbach.
Borussia Dortmund's search for their first away win of the season in the Bundesliga goes on after they were held to a 1-1 draw against Borussia Mönchengladbach on Saturday evening. The Black and Yellows took the lead in the second-half through Jamie Gittens, but Pascal Groß gave away a penalty not long after, allowing Gladbach to score the equaliser.
Nuri Sahin's side created a number of chances, but seemed to be lacking the cutting edge in the final third. And the BVB head coach lamented their failure to kill the game after taking the lead in the 64th minute.
"Very, very annoying - extremely so here, because the only thing I can blame us for is not killing the game," Sahin told Sky Sport after the game. "It was clear to me that it wouldn't be easy in Gladbach, against a good team, but we went 1-0 up, were in control, then you just have to score the second goal and we didn't do that. That annoys me! For me, this is almost worse than the other away defeats we've had. But we have to learn from it and we will."
The frustration will certainly be high at Borussia Dortmund, who will feel that the win was there for the taking against a struggling Gladbach side. But BVB now find themselves 12 points behind Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich, and three shy of RB Leipzig in fourth place.
Next up for Borussia Dortmund is a blockbuster Champions League clash against FC Barcelona, followed by tricky Bundesliga matches against TSG Hoffenheim and VfL Wolfsburg to round out their year.
