Nick Woltemade is now on Tyneside.
Initially expected to arrive on Friday morning, the German international striker instead flew in late on Thursday night and was pictured entering a hotel on Newcastle quayside.
Sky Sports report that Nick Woltemade will undergo his medical this Friday morning ahead of completing a record breaking Newcastle United transfer.
As the Champions League draw was concluding, news broke (see below) that Newcastle United had agreed a transfer fee to sign the 23 year old.
With then Stuttgart have confirming later (see below) that they had received an acceptable offer for their star striker and they had released him from club duties so that he could complete the move.
Although Stuttgart referred to it as ‘an offer from a European club’, obviously this was referring to him being set to join Newcastle United.
I have seen Newcastle United fans wondering if Nick Woltemade could potentially be available for Saturday’s match at Leeds.
The rules are that the signing must be officially registered by 12 noon the day before a Premier League match, so it could be potentially possible, if everything can be sorted this morning.
Shortly before the summer transfer window closed, VfB Stuttgart received an offer from a European club for an immediate transfer of Nick Woltemade.
The terms of this offer have prompted club officials to release Nick Woltemade from training and matchday duties in order to hold talks with the interested party about a potential transfer.
A decision on this is expected before the end of tomorrow, Friday.’
The Mag report – earlier on Thursday 28 August 2025:
Newcastle United have agreed a deal to buy Nick Woltemade.
Both Keith Downie of Sky Sports and Craig Hope of The Mail reporting the breakthrough.
The Sky Sports reporter says that Nick Woltemade will arrive on Tyneside for his medical tomorrow (Friday 29 August 2025).
Both journalists reporting it as a new Newcastle United transfer record.
Sky Sports stating it is a £65m deal, with £60.5m guaranteed plus £4.5m add-ons.
Craig Hope at The Mail saying he understands it is even higher, around £75m.
Nick Woltemade scored 17 times for Stuttgart last season.
Whilst the 23 year old was also a real stand out player at this summer’s Under 21 Euros.
Woltemade finished top scorer in the finals with six goals.
The striker also has two senior caps for Germany and is seen as one of Europe’s most exciting young forwards.
What this means for Newcastle United’s striking department overall remains to be seen.
