Dumfries has yet to put pen to paper on a new contract with Inter.

This is despite the fact that the talks between he and the Nerazzurri have been ongoing for quite a few months now.

And by all accounts, the parties have essentially arrived at an agreement on a new deal for Dumfries.

The 28-year-old had initially rejected Inter’s offer as too low in terms of wages.

However, during the summer Dumfries reportedly decided to accept Inter’s offer. His priority remains to stay at the club.

The fact that it is now quite a few weeks into the season without Dumfries having actually signed on the dotted line could be a bit concerning.

There have been reports since the summer that the former PSV man has agreed terms.

But the actual confirmation has yet to arrive.

Asked about his extension, Dumfries said that “I hope it gets done as soon as possible.”

“It all seems good,” the Dutchman said. “I hope to sign it soon.”

And Dumfries then said that at the start of the season, “I haven’t played much.”

“I still have to extend my contract,” he continued.

“Obviously I want to play more,” Dumfries made clear. “I’m focused on getting more minutes.”

“Fortunately I’ve gotten a bit more in the past few weeks. But Darmian is a tough competitor for the starting spot.”
