Scotland international Scott McTominay made his Serie A debut at Napoli on Sunday and received social media messages from his new teammates Romelu Lukaku, Alessandro Buongiorno and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.
McTominay and his compatriot Billy Gilmour made their Napoli debut in Serie A on Sunday, coming off the bench as substitutes in a 4-0 away win at Cagliari.
Napoli’s third consecutive victory in the league – the first time in one and a half years – allowed the Partenopei to climb to the top of the table ahead of Saturday’s crunch meeting against second-placed Juventus at the Allianz Stadium.
Both Gilmour and McTominay were introduced at minute 74, and the former Manchester United midfielder played in an advanced position, replacing Georgian star Kvaratskhelia.
McTominay celebrated his Serie A debut and Napoli’s win on Instagram. “Forza Napoli. Very happy to make my debut!! Well done, guys,” wrote the former Red Devil.
Over 200,000 people liked the post, including Napoli, Man United, and Scotland fans. Three Napoli stars commented on it as Lukaku, Kvara, and Buongiorno congratulated their teammate. All of them, plus Giovanni Di Lorenzo, had found the net in Napoli’s 4-0 win in Cagliari.
