Nampalys Mendy will no longer wear the colors of RC Lens. With his contract expiring this summer, the Senegal international leaves the northern club two years after arriving as a free agent. RC Lens officially announced Nampalys Mendy's departure this Thursday, June 26.

Having joined from Leicester City as a free agent in September 2023, Nampalys Mendy was expected to bring his experience and leadership to the heart of the Sang et Or midfield. Unfortunately, things didn’t go as planned. After a mixed first season with limited playing time, the Africa Cup of Nations winner found himself sidelined for much of his final year.

In total, he made 32 appearances for the club, with just 11 across all competitions during the 2024/26 campaign—a clear sign of his reduced role in the squad rotation.

Now a free agent, Nampalys Mendy already has several suitors. The Senegalese midfielder is reportedly on the radar of Moroccan club Wydad Casablanca. He has also attracted interest from MLS and Middle Eastern clubs since last summer. The time to make a decision appears to have come.
