And Palace fans will be delighted that it was big French striker Jean-Philippe Matate who found the back of the net in the 56th minute after he powered past Jacob Greaves before a cheeky finish over Arijanet Muric.

Mateta has been in top form for Palace in his last 30 league appearances for the club, bagging 18 goals and adding 3 assists in that time frame.

In the wake of a superb 2023-24 campaign, Mateta could be the key to guiding the capital side to a more lofty perch come the end of the season.
