Crystal Palace’s sporting director, Dougie Freedman, is preparing for a potentially transformative summer transfer window.

The London club has reportedly submitted an £11.9 million offer for Chadi Riad, a promising Moroccan centre-back.

Riad, who spent the season on loan at Real Betis, has impressed with his performances and comes highly recommended after developing in Barcelona’s esteemed academy.

The departure of Raphael Varane leaves a gaping hole in United’s defence.
