Ruben Amorim has some big calls to make over the spine of his team
Ruben Amorim could be forced into a change at centre-back for the Manchester derby after Matthijs de Ligt suffered an injury in the midweek defeat at Nottingham Forest.
Harry Maguire is set to come in against Manchester City if De Ligt is not fit.
Rasmus Hojlund is set to come back into the team after being left out against Forest, while Amorim must decide whether to move Bruno Fernandes back to one of the two in midfield following his switch to a wide position at the City Ground.
Kobbie Mainoo is fit again after a two-month absence with a calf injury but he is unlikely to come straight back into the team.
“I think Kobbie is returning to training, so we’ll see and assess for this game already," said Amorim ahead of the game.
“Of course, he cannot play a full game, he’s a long time without training.
“I think Matta [de Ligt] has an issue. He has something during the game [at Forest] and we have to assess. I think the rest is normal.”
Ayden Heaven, Jonny Evans, Lisandro Martinez and Luke Shaw are all still out.
Amorim has said Mason Mount “can start” but added that United “have to manage his minutes still.”
Injured: Martinez, Amad, Shaw, Heaven, Evans
Doubts: De Ligt, Mainoo
