Manchester United are interested in Wilfred Ndidi as they look to replace Casemiro, as per reports.

Having spent the early days of the summer transfer window chasing Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo, United are yet to make a concrete move to strengthen their midfield.

Considering their limited budget owing to the absence of European football, it appears unlikely they will be able to spend big on bringing in a new midfielder. However, it would be naive to overlook the glaring issues in the middle of the park.

According to Fichajes, United are planning to replace Casemiro.

Towards the end of the campaign, the Brazilian emerged as one of Ruben Amorim’s most reliable players.

However, the 33-year-old veteran can’t be relied upon to start regularly due to his physical decline. He is also the club’s highest-paid player.

United reportedly know it’s time to push Casemiro away from their first team plans and have accordingly set their sights on Ndidi.

The Red Devils have been tracking the Leicester City midfielder for some time.

The 28-year-old has a similar profile to the ex-Real Madrid star, owing to his physicality and ability to recover possession.

At the moment, the Nigerian is headed to the Championship following Leicester’s relegation. However, his contract includes an escape clause, allowing interested clubs to sign him for £8 million this summer.

It is claimed United don’t want to pass up the opportunity. The Premier League giants are yet to lodge a formal offer but there is willingness to wrap up his signing as soon as possible.

Having said that, recently The Peoples Person relayed a report claiming Casemiro wants to stay at Old Trafford as he is eyeing a place in Brazil’s squad for the 2026 World Cup.
